Unusual to see them so far south. I saw them on the PA Turnpike about 45 years ago and in New Jersey as a kid circa 1962 or so. Great shot Beth!

it is unusual. this was about 2 hours south of the pa turnpike.

Superb and so unusual. We see the aurora australis now and then (lat. 52S) but nothing as striking as this!

thanks pete, i was pretty stoked getting to see this at home. i'd only ever seen the aurora in iceland before this.
thanks tony. we rarely get to see the aurora. much less with the naked eye. the night before this one was a better show, but i couldn't get anywhere with a decent foreground quick enough.
thanks gary. unfortunately, no, this was with the fuji. i would love to fly the drone around these towers, but it's state park land and they've banned launching and landing drones on park property.
