It's that time of year again - down-town San Diego fills up with nerds, geeks, zombies, and some very very strange looking folk!

It's impossible to get tickets, but there's nothing to stop someone like myself heading down to the convention center, and people watching for free.

Parking is a nightmare, so the Coaster train is the best option to get there and back.

Yes it's a complete circus, crazy number of people, almost too much to take in.

Took me an hour to get into a routine to stop and shoot the more interesting costumes.

You could spend days there just shooting 'street' candids.

Rob - this is clearly just normal dress for Californian's - we put on a good show for people coming in from out of town!

Would love to go myself one year - but the tickets go on sale months before, and sell out in about 5 mins

Pete - 'pro photog' and 'flash man' were a hoot - spent all day walking around but didn't seem to take many photos

There was also a guy with a crew of two lighting people, and a huge ring light on his 70-200 - no idea how he used all that.

And I saw one crew with a RED camera - very nice.
