Critique Welcomed Coronado Bridge

Chris Dodkin

West Coast Correspondent
Out and about today testing the G617 film camera.

Took the digital as well - and good job I did, as my light meter battery packed up before the end of the day, making shooting film somewhat tricky!

X-Pro1 shot from my final location on Boxing Day - Coronado Bridge, San Diego Bay

Meter in one camera to shoot the other ... Surly??

So when do we get to see the first 617 shots?
Lab is closed for the holidays so first processing won't be until Jan 7th :(

This delay is unacceptable! If only someone would invent some sort format that could be shared over the Internet almost as instantly is the photo was taken
That's crazy talk Hamish! :D

I'll have a ton of film to process by then of course - but seeing as I can't even get a test roll developed, I'm having to bracket my exposures in the hope that I get one right per location.

Really nice, Chris - how long was the exposure? The shape of the bridge is wonderful!
Thanks Shane - this one was 0.8 Sec at f/8 - with the ISO held at 200 to keep the noise to a minimum

The bridge is really wavy - both vertically and horizontally!

Yeah, film. It's a dead format..... Looking forward to the 617 shots and by the looks of this it will be worth the wait.
Paul - I'm hoping that somewhere in my bracketing I get the exposures right, so will have something to show

Here's the G617 on location - San Diego bay

Unlike the X-Pro1, it attracts a LOT of attention

Lovely shot, Chris. Shooting Velvia in the X-Pro? It would be interesting to see how it looked against the actual Velvia that you appear to shooting in the big gun.

I do shoot Velvia on the X-Pro, but it only effects the JPEG and not the RAW file I process - but I use it as a benchmark for color/saturation.

Hopefully next week at some point I'll have so real (scanned) Velvia to compare with!

Lovely stuff Chris. And good to see the 617 out in the wild.
Thanks Pete - no chance of going unnoticed with the 617, people keep stopping by to 'chat' and see what it is!

Wow!! We were without an internet connection over Christmas for eight days and I missed this. I'm so glad it popped up again :)
Thanks Lesley

Eight Days!!!!! Man, I think I'd have gone nuts ;)
