Did these pass people by?
I was pretty pleased with them, well out my normal comfort zone with a 16x7 pano ... Just for Chris that was :(

Sorry mate - missed them, but picked 'em up with the bump just now.

Love shots at this time of day as you get that magic balance between available light and artificial light.

I like the sky halo effect in #1 - was there some cloud movement to get that nice blur in the sky? It lines up nicely with the roofline on that loading bay.

I like the pano and comp of #2 a lot - I think it just needs a little more punch in colour and detail - really pull something out of the dying light of the day.

Here's a stab at it - but only with the small JPEG file of course

You been spending some time with the tripod and remote release then? :)

Hehe sorry Chris that was supposed to sound jovial an faux sulky not genuine moody ;)
... Ill come Back to this in th mornin ..

See I like it re-saturated now...
I dunno, I wanted a muted tone and a slightly wintery feel ... Maybe I'll have another look!

16x7 though ...16x7!!
You won't get one of them out of me often I can tell ya ;)
Works though I think!??

Any yeah, tripod is a rare thing for me!
No remote release though, self timer ... Which doesn't really work to make a stable shot ...
I could never understand why they didn't make the self timer use the m-up facility as standard...
M-up and remote release is a much better combo!

I like #2- the colours make a lovely original shot.
The only change I would have made is to try and lose that big light on the left. Maybe a step or two to one side and see if I could lose it behind the barge....

Hamish - 16x7 is a big step - you could always look at 16x9s and work back up to a 16x7 ;)

Works perfectly here of course - GO WIDE! :D :D

Regarding remotes and mirror lock up - couldn't agree more - the live-view mode on my 5D2 locks up the mirror and definitely improves long exposures.

I was using live view for this thinking it would have the same effect, but im not sure it works like that with nikon .. There seems to be a whole lot of c-clacking that sets the thing on the wobble!

On the 5D2 it locks the mirror up - but I know it varies from one model to another even in the Canon range.

Here's a super slow motion video of mirror slap/bounce - it's crazy to see how much it moves!
