Cracked & Gurglling

Dropped into Porthtowan today expecting to get a few shots of surfers. None to be had which is a first for myself. But there was a building gurgling and making watery noises. I guess it is the treatment pump.

Love the framing and, again, the tones and toning, work very well.

Thanks Pete, I was pleased with this shot, it may have a bit to do with high expectations arriving and getting out the car to a bitter strong wind, then coming away with at least something. I did on site believe the wire was a crack  I also like the humanoid characteristics of the building.

I love the structure, with it's four eyes looking back at us, a character all of it's own. It reminds me of something not very English, something more like what might be found on a Spanish beach perhaps. The cable down it's face is a good feature.

Thanks Tom and interesting how you perceive this. I did actually get thinking on the day even though this is place I frequent a lot, this area, being the North coast of Cornwall is a very different environment to anywhere I've been in the uk, Yes the beautiful surf beaches but these places have a utilitarian aspect to them Often not pretty in the traditional British sense , often sparse, dusty and areas where plants will not grow. It is a tough environment with the Atlantic storms coming straight into the beaches and cliffs.

I really like this, Julian. Slightly humorous, though hard to say why. And I live the space around it. Nice framing.

Thanks Rob. One amongst many great tips I ever got at Art School, you draw the space around and in between something equally as the object itself. So yes for me the building worked because of that space. :)

love the comp., the way you've shot this seems like it should be really boring and have no sense of depth, no leading lines taking you further in, but instead of failing it works really well. great tones too.

Thanks Beth, Yes when I saw this I saw a flat images. More an abstract than anything else. I think it worked to an extent , at least more so than anything else I've managed to concur up of late.
