DARTMOOR

Must post a pic, so found one . I put many on Flickr at minimum 200pixels wide and post at 1600. They show up here a lot smaller so put a link to the larger size. If the link works.
As Rob would say, cannot see the joins, please dont go looking I am sure they are there but I only ever wish to put over the essence of an image and the pixels are never looked at as individual entities.

The essence of this image shines through like a sunny summer's day, Julian. I love the low hanging clouds and the overall feel which which conjures a walk in the hills on a cool damp day. Very nice.

Edit: Just looked at the big one on Flickr. Stunner!

Thank you Brian, Gets blinking cold up there on Dartmoor , mine you it is freezing here as well 8c today. I did once go walking up behind those hills many years ago and ended up stuck in a bog up to my waist. Didn't take that route again. I enjoy seeing landscapes on a large scale love em or loath them the Merrill s are ok at that at least.

The flickr version is definitely better, but this is still good.

Your story of being up to your waist in a bog reminds me of the time I went to Iona. Being an ex Roman Catholic, I do get drawn to seemingly spiritual places, but I do like to poke fun when some people get over zealous, shall we say. And Iona was full of them.

I went for a walk around the island, and then off the beaten track. Literally on my last step before joining the footpath again, I sunk to my belly in mud. In surprise, I grabbed out with both hands to the fence in front of me, but got caught by barbed wire. There I was, half submerged in a bog, with blood oozing from the palms of my hands, somewhat stigmatically.

Two very pious girls just happened to walk by at that moment, and I couldn't resist screaming, "Repent! Repent!" The look on their faces guaranteed me a few millennia in Hell. But it was worth it :D

Thank you kindly Milan. Dartmoor as you know then can change within a short time , it's an awkward 45 miles or so from me, otherwise I'd be there much more often.

I like it too and I think I passed Dartmoor on my journey last year. I looked at it at Flickr too. A moody one indeed, but I do not think you lot know what coldness is ;)

Come on Rob, you can't just leave it there. Did you get out?! ;)

Fabulous shot Julian and very evocative of Dartmoor. I had friends who lived in Chagford for years and I used to visit several times of year. Somewhere I have quite a few B&W negs (and prints I suppose) from those times. Love the detail of the Flickr version.
