DERELICT RUNWAY AT RAF KELSTERN
TAKEN 20 JULY 2013

A shot of one of the most haunted airfields in Britain or so the story goes. This is the site of RAF Kelstern, yet another bomber base in Bomber County, taken using a Pentax 645 loaded with Kodak T-Max 100 developed using FX39. Standard 75mm f2.8 lens.

Good image Shaun, certainly shows the abandoned nature of the place.

It is the abandonment and solitude of these places that I try to capture in my photographs. This is our heritage that is on show here and I feel a great connection with these places and their overwhelming emptiness.

Nature reclaiming the manmade structures

I like the way you used the fence to draw the eye, and also break the horizon

The sky is less dramatic than your Wombleton shot - Could an ND grad be used here?

In googling the abandoned airfields, I came across this site - set-up by a guy from Holland
