Die Welt und Die Mauer

Wonderful light on the way from Potsdamer Platz to Martin Gropius Bau. And an interesting looking exhibition about the Berlin Wall (Die Mauer) - we didn't have time to stop though.

Martin Gropius Bau,...Bauhaus eight, Pete? Wasn't Martin Gropius a founder of that movement? It is indeed a bonnie fotie, Pete! The sunlight looks lovely.

We have a bit of the wall here in Los Angeles, by the way. About a 20 foot long section. Its on Wilshire Boulevard, across the street from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. What's going on below left?

Thanks Rob. I didn't know the artist, but I can see the connection.

Close Brian, but he was the great uncle of Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus movement - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Gropius - and it is the building that he is remembered for most (built as a museum / gallery). This is the longest section of the wall (running far left) that I have seen since 1989 and I don't know if it will be permanent or not. In the sunken area below it are various display boards which I assume are about the division. I will go back properly in the autumn. Thanks though. :)

Beautiful glow of light Pete for a most enjoyable composition. Great lines from the buildings and walls as if inviting you down to join the people. Of course the balloon gives it another dimension.

Thanks Tom. Actually, the balloon was quite a challenge. It was being winched down as I approached (at a fair rate) and was also swinging from left to right. So timing the position was a bit tricky. I would have preferred it a tiny bit higher but I was too far back to make that work. It is used for view of Berlin. I have never tried it, and have no intention to!
