More Great shots guys...

Ralph, I'm struggling to get my head around the first one "Avalanche Creek in Glacier National Park, Montana" but in a good way:D.
I can make out a waterfall coming from the right of frame, the rock hanging from above but the left of the frame I can't tell if it's another waterfall or rocks. Also with the light coming from the right and the straight edge of the rock above casting a bit of a shadow cutting through the rainbow effect it makes it look a bit like a composite image.
So is it two waterfalls coming together and disappearing down a black hole or am I missing something:confused:, I like shots that I can look at and have to work out what's happening like that:D.

Does anyone else see what I mean or is just me being thick[doh]

I agree that it is an unusual image. I think that's why I like it. But it is one image and not a composite. I was standing on a ledge with my camera mounted on a tripod and pointing mostly straight down into a narrow gorge. Water is rushing through from right to left cascading over a falls. There is plenty of spray going up into the air. There is a big rock stuck in the center of the narrow gorge. On the opposite side from my position is another overhanging ledge with a fairly straight edge to the rock. That edge creates a dark shadow that cuts the rainbow. The leaning tree on the right is casting a shadow on the same rock and that shadow is also messed up by the shape of the ledge on the opposite side.

On the left side the cascading water is a light blue color. The rushing stream has carved numerous potholes in the rock and one of these forms the grayish curved area to the left and slightly higher than the rock. This is illuminated by a shaft of sunlight, the same shaft of light that creates the rainbow. That shaft of light is cut off by the rock ledge and the shadow from the ledge makes it appear that the gray pothole rock has a sharp edge, which it actually does not.

Take a look at the Avalanche Gorge photo from my earlier post. I'll copy it below. Imagine you are at the top of the gorge looking down into it. The Avalanche Creek photo I'm describing here was taken just upstream from the Avalanch Gorge Photo. hope this helps?
