Do you know the secret handshake?

Out for dinner the other night in my neighborhood and walked past our local Masonic lodge. I like the 1960s modernist architecture, and the night and lighting gave it a mysterious feel so I took a few shots. This is a three-photo stitch (top, middle, and lower thirds) with a 24mm tilt-shift lens. I left the camera in the same position and just adjusted the lens. Doing this allows me to get a wider shot than would normally be possible with that focal length, so I can get even closer without the distortion that a wider lens would have.

I like how the angles and geometry of the building are contrasted by the asymmetry of the foreground tree, Darren. I suppose you used a tripod, which if true begs the question,...Do you always take a tripod to dinner?

Always have one in the car Brian - just in case!

Love the way the light has pooled Darren - so what's in the bunker then? ;)

It's true that I do usually have a tripod in the car, just in case. But in this instance, I had my full kit in the car because I'd just come from shooting that house the other night. I'm very familiar with this building, as it's on my local "high street" as you Brits would say. I have had my eye on it for a while as a candidate for a shot. But there was never the right mood or lighting (or camera). After staring at it all evening as I ate in the restaurant across the street, I pulled out my gear and grabbed a couple of shots quickly while my wife and daughter waited patiently in the car, before heading home.

It's always the family that stand and wait... :D

My wife just walks off now - as a suggestion that I 'get on with it'
