A303 looks like a river & the sun like a bright lamp ... lush. Could be the Arctic.

Steve my reference was me being silly and a reference to the poor summer we have had, A lack of sun. It is a nice image . This is a road that my mother used to take us as young children from Cornwall to Herne Bay in Kent, visiting out grandparents. Not full of great memories for the trip. A twelve hour drive in a Morris traveler. Those were the days when you could stop, sit and picnic sitting on the Stones at Stone Henge.
Julian. I understood your message perfectly. My response was slightly obtuse in that I meant - What Sun!
As they say here - Living in Devon is like living in heaven, except that it rains 6 days out of 7......... and 7 months out of 8.
I am clearly of the same era as yourself as I remember those long journeys. Now I'm in the City in 3.5 hours from Exmoor (unless I stop to take photos). Not so bad any more.
