Esther Williams' glorious descent of the Grand Staircase

I had to look her up, and do remember one or two roles she played. I also searched for her and staircase: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2002-jun-02-re-inside2-story.html

As for your images, Gianluca, they are redolent of the b&w era, though she and her costumes were made for colour. Nevertheless, these plants do have staircase qualities, and the shading is very noir, which I like a lot. They are interesting to look at and ponder over, and that is never a waste of time. Thanks.

I thank you for your kind words and for overcoming the hurdle of such a difficult title. I guess by now you should be used to my wacky titles that only make sense to me and a few others.

The photos depict banana leaves against the light. In this case, black and white seemed more effective than a colour that only evoked tropical paradises. Were Esther Williams' films in colour? I didn't know, I used to watch them on a black and white TV. As you can see my memories with the passing years are more and more doubtful and I don't even remember in which film E.W. descended that staircase and maybe it wasn't even her and I wasn't me.

Thank you for the banana explanation ... while I liked the photo, the abstraction, the available lighting you saw and captured ... it all came together for a pleasing, thought provoking image. The banana reference brought a nice element of realty and clarity to the photo.

Thank you, Gary for your comment.
