since 1814 when Norway again got back their independance. On that particular day, the 17th of May, the whole of Norway's population take part in the greatest treasured and appreciated holiday in this country. Unique to Norway, all schools children march through the streets where they live with bands, flags waved in the air and when the children are allowed to eat as much ice cream as they are able too. The greatest freedom day of all.
So I thought I'd show you a little glimpse of that, made able by my Olé 10 and it's kit lens. Hope you'll enjoy it.
It all starts by hoisting up the flags in the mornings.
and then everyone goes to see the parade down in town.
where all school children take part, and are shouting hurray, hurray....
Where the adults form the front, ( maybe it should be the other way around?)
All dressed up in national costumes and nice outfits.
One of many speeches of that day.
and they all listen and sing the national anthem.
well almost everyone...
But some got to work, even on that day!
