Captains Flat is a weird place. It was originally a gold mining town, back in the day. There's extensive excavations, drainage channels and so on very to evident to this day all around it. The township itself is I suppose fairly typical of sleepy little places round here, but I've always come away with a slight sense of hostility for some reason...

I love the shadow in the original post! It makes the image for me, though the house is certainly interesting in itself.
