Critique Welcomed Fallen leaves by a stream

I decided to combine a bike ride with some picture taking towards the end of this afternoon. I was reminded that fallen leaves can hide a lot, and got 2 wet feet taking this one. :o Sony A35 with 35mm prime, ISO 400, f/1.8, 1/40s. PP in Aperture.

Worth getting damp for - lovely fall scene David.

Nice, and don't worry about the wet feet, I see it as a badge of honour

Nothing that a vigorous bit of cycling couldn't shake off! There is another stream about a mile down the road with rocks and water; both run into our local reservoir. I love the name of the area above the lake: Injebrek. The road also has one of the steepest climbs on the Island which was the challenge for the evening on my Cube MTB.

ISO 200, f/4 at 1/50s for this one.

yea, wet feet are par for the course. in fact if they're not wet within the first half hour you're not doing it right. love the first one, great comp. and exposure. perfect amount of detail and movement in the water.

the second comp. looks a little busy to me, wouldn't mind seeing some of the top and bottom cut off for a square crop.

Thanks Dan. Since buying a 35mm prime for my Sony SLT earlier this year, that has been the lens I usually leave on the camera. Not having to think about zooming but adjusting where I stand gives me wet feet but, in my opinion, better results. I also remember to focus properly most of the time now; clearly one less thing (the zoom setting) for my ageing brain to think about actually helps. :)

Ooo yes, square crop is excellent - good idea Beth!

The water goes from top right to bottom left, and the trees and bank frame the shot nicely

Well spotted on the mossy tree Beth - might be worth a re-visit with some wellies David

Thanks Chris and Beth. I am now positive I did the right thing joining this forum. Thank you for your help and comments.

:)

Certainly very green! You know, a mono conversion might very well work. How about something like this (hope you don't mind)?

No, I don't mind at all. I'm a bit caught up with some other things at the moment but I will come back to these images. I do like the green but perhaps a vintage filter might do it for me.
