taken tonight after work. they had 3" of snow accumulate (and melt) in the northern part of the state on sunday and another 3" today. i don't think my dad has been home since sunday, he's a supervisor for the transportation maintenance yard. where i work we had about 2" on the ground at one point around noon and it was pretty much gone by 5pm.

Looks so crisp Beth - the colors, the light - love that orange and the slight mist on the fields

Superb leading lines, and a wonderful contrast between the grit of life on Earth and the sublime warmth of the 'heavens'. Very nice shot.

Great image, Beth. I love the off-center vanishing point of the road and the monochromatic foreground against the orange sky. i am surprised at the aperture reported in the EXIF, though - f/2.5. I wouldn't have thought that would have yielded this kind of apparent DOF with a 35mm lens on APS-C.

Yep, another like from me Beth, says album cover to me, don't know why or which but it just says it to me :)

Wow, I feel guilty complaining about the cold... I've developed thin skin since moving back to Texas from Boston.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm really jealous of the snow. We only get ice down here.

thanks everyone.

thanks keith. it was a last minute decision after work when i saw the misty so i wasn't prepared. no tripod, no coat, wearing a long sleeve tshirt. i started out at f/4 and that wasn't working for me. iso was 2000, shutter speed was 1/60s with a 35mm lens. i didn't want to increase the iso and i couldn't decrease the shutter speed and get a sharp handheld shot. so i decreased the aperture and tried to guess what the hyperfocal distance was. probably should have looked that up on the smart phone app, but couldn't be bothered. ;)

thanks steve. it's either 30 degrees or 50 degrees here, nothing in between. we don't get snow often, when we do it's a lot. people around here can't drive in snow. i like visiting florida and seeing the natives in winter coats at 70 degrees.

thanks paul and aldous.

Lovely Beth, I wish I had a road that looked just like that that I could drive home on at the end of the day.
you and me both. this is heading in the right direction and only a few minutes from work, but unless i turn around and head back to the expressway it adds about a half hour on to the ride time without stopping anywhere for photos.
