Soon, the novelty of super duper unusable fast lenses will where off David. Lol.
I remember seeing this article flicking around ont web and I thought....... How ugly does that look?!

Still, good find David. I think you could rock up something like in no time. :)

Fast, cheap, simple lens is easy but a fast decent lens isn't lol I have just gone down the 'overkill' route for mounting massive glass so that the sensor/film size only covered the central sharpest part of the image circle.

Maybe I should just start a lens series of 'Mitchell Q lenses' :D

you can now hire the 0.7 lens attached to a vid camera of some sort ... saw some footage from it the other day ... needless to say it was somewhat "arty".

The 0.33 lens is silly... I wish manufacturers displayed similar levels of humor these days!

And who said the Germans have no sense of humour! ;)

Pete they are categorically laughing with us not at us...

Tangentially, this is Hollywood speak for "He's a ROYAL PITA." (italics in the quote mine :D )

"In any event, for whatever reason, Kubrick insisted that I build him a 20-to-1 zoom lens for "BARRY LYNDON". What followed was a series of phone calls, telexes, and letters between Kubrick and myself and between me and the Angenieux Corporation, who were, in fact, the suppliers of the basic zoom components for all of these 20-to-1 zoom lenses. Through it all, Kubrick displayed the kind of technical knowledge and skill, rare in modern filmmakers, that enabled him to define the problem precisely and specify what had to be done to achieve the lens he wanted."
