FED - 4

Charity shopping today, I came across a FED-4. I did not know this camera and only purchased it because it's lens unscrewed. At the time I guessed it would be an M42 or a M39 LTM fit. Having both adapters, the M39 for the E-M5, the M42 for the Sony Nex5n, I gave it a punt. Camera appears to be in working order with the meter still registering and giving a exposure reading. It is m39 screw fitting the E-M5 adapter and although its focal length is 53mm f2.8, having many lenses close to this focal length, another hopefully wont hurt. I do like to experiment with different lenses, to see their characteristics. Took a snap shot in the front room, first impressions are that is is a very capable little lens, on the E-M5.

I must find a Puddle to try the next shots.

I expect I will at some point Pete, although I have run out of B+W, been putting it off of late to get more. Plenty of chemicals left for developing so I must do it. It was the lens I was curious about and yes it is in very good nik. The lens is not as tight and as well made as the jupiter I have but it works and for £10 you cannot really go wrong.

Hamish you obviously dont know the price of chips down here then. Thanks I now know I have an Industar-61 mate:)

I believe thats an M39 mount, you can get a spacer ring to make it an M42 mount meaning that you can use it on both cameras lol

Nice one, Julian! By the way,...I think you have to be careful to adjust the shutter speed only after cocking the shutter, otherwise internal damage of some kind may result. (Not entirely sure that applies to the FED 4 but it does apply to others and I'd want to know for sure if I was you.)

Thanks Brian, it had crossed my mind as I know the Zorki I have, has this issue as you say.
