Critique Welcomed Finally Got Out With The DP1

One of the great things to happen in this country in the last few years is the hundreds of micro-breweries that have opened up and that make wonderful beers. There are two within easy walking distance of my house.

Yesterday I got a chance to take the ex-MacKillop Sigma DP1 Merrill for a walk to the micro-breweries.

I want to love this camera but I can tell it is going to be a tough love. At least initially. I'm very happy with the image quality, but it is a very slowwwww camera to use. (My manual film cameras are much faster.)

These look great, Brian. The camera has coped well with the low-ish light in the first. I love the second, Meg having a drink. What great eyes she has. Is the last image set for Foveon Blue?

Thanks, Rob. I didn't set it for Foveon Blue. I don't actually know what that's for yet.

A cracking set, Brian. I know what you mean about the cameras but I forgive them their quirks due to the amazing image quality and tonal rendering. And this comes over in spades in these image. Like Rob, I love that shot of Meg. Those eyes!

Thanks Pete. Much appreciated.

I too take part in the choir of praise and must admit that although slow as an old man gets, the camera suits him well. Have a happy spring over there. It seems that happiness prevails. That's contagious.:) But what happened to Rob? Has he dismissed his faith in Merlin?

Thanks, Ivar. Happy spring to you as well. As for Rob,...I think he has gone full circle,...film-->digital--->film. Its a good place to be.
