First Cinestill Film Through Hexar

Rob MacKillop

The Hexar has auto ISO, but I might override it next time I use this interesting film. I'm really impressed with Hamish's use of this film, but I haven't got the same quality, due to lots of blowouts of the highs. Potential though, for sure, now that I know what to expect.

These are unprocessed other than a very little darkening on some. I couldn't stop myself doing that, and not all of them have it.

What do you think?

Well the colours are quite unique to this film it appears to me. Like them a lot. The B+W are superb Rob. I like this dark side , but am sure I'd soon become a vegetarian if I had to eat you. I'll stick with a tasty swan:confused:

Love to last Birch? one
.

Thanks, Julian. Yes, I believe they are birch trees. Princes Street Gardens. I don't think I got the best out of this film, so will think things through before using it again. But I love what I see from Hamish and others.

My experience of scanning film is to achieve a wide variety of results from the same film and it in itself seems to be a bit of an art. Maybe others have idea's on settings for scanning this film. Of course each lens will affect the colour to a greater or lesser degree.

Embarrassed to admit I got it done through Boots...
I did buy a decent scanner, mostly for my daughter, I have used it for film and find it quite complex to get a good rendition that I like so can appreciate that boots have probably got it on a general setting which is probable as exiting as the bubble bath they sell:)

I'm going to write a blog post on DX overriding at some point Rob, but it's very simple to do for when shooting with cameras that don't let you set it.

That said, I don't think you should be disappointed with your results!!

That's a good idea, Hamish. I'm not disappointed at all. Most new film takes a couple of spools to get the best out of it. I look forward to your blog pst. Do it tonight!

Haha, I got married yesterday Rob, I drank an entire bottle of Auchentoshen 'three wood' ... I'm not sure I am quite up to it! I have a. Few days off work though now and will make it I priority just for you!

congratulation Hamish, wish you and your wife all the best.

Rob I liked the first, the second and absolutely the fifth the most, in colour. It seems I have to start using my old eos again and film.
