Fisherman's Calendar

I just loved the way you placed them in your second picture as well as I loved the others. Seems I have to contemplate on buying a DP1. Am a little reluctant though as I already have an 18 - 55 for ex1. great set Julian. How do you find the little thing.

I've only as yet taken these photos with it , so still learning. I say learning as it is a wider focal length than I am used to. I Have the EF 17-40, but never really got used to it, physically let alone optically. For these types of shots the DP1 is an ideal focal length though. Plus the files are easily cropped with plenty of information. Personally out of all three of the DP Merrills I am finding it the hardest. My style of image is to isolate, more often than not and fill the frame. I am having to learn better composition. Learn to fill the frame with something meaningful. I did go out just to use this one camera this morning, I will in the future have the three and choose the camera for the subject.
The files are slightly different, I think the B+W of the DP2 and DP3 easier, maybe it is the lens. The Dp3 B+W are gorgeous, especially portraits, more like the DP2. Truth is I enjoy the DP2 the most at the moment, probably as it is 45 mm equivalent, the camera is also more compact than the DP3.

If I chose one, it would be all of them
Well I set out to acquire all three after trying out the DP3 , as I am in love not with the camera as such but with over coming the challenges that the camera provides, it is not as predictable as all the other camera's I have. But then I am as much into playing with accidents of light rather than control, as anything else. I'd probably love a Holga

No. From Clifton. They are awaiting a fresh batch (sorry, I keep thinking of your fish!) arriving then. I traded in my XE1, got the camera and some cash.

I wonder why April. I got my DP3 locally at a store, great guys but, bit of a problem. due to Sigma uk,( returned the first) it still only took 24 hours to receive it and the turn around. So the DP2 I got through Clifton. The advantage they give an extra in house guarantee, so two years total. Both Cameras from Clifton I did not pay up front but got put on a list, with my phone number, so they phoned me when they had the stock, which in both cases was soon after I contacted them ,three days later in the case of the DP2 and two days with the DP1. They called me I went online and purchased. both arrived early next morning . The staff there, certainly came across as superb people and a pleasure to deal with, I'd not hesitate to use them at anytime.

I wonder if there is a shortage now of the DP3 it is the one of the three everyone raves about more than the others. I notice Wex have them at the hefty price of £649 still and the DP3 is a special order. But for me I know I'll be using the DP2 more of the three, because of the focal length.

Well, I hope to have all three eventually, before they give up making them, or at least get the DP2m second-hand. Yes, the guys at Clifton are great. I'll certainly use them again.

Another great set Julian and fun too.
I'll start buying the Sun tomorrow:)
Uncanny , in one photo I took, the ''model'' standing had a newspaper over his groan, the photographer remarked, ''that is ok I can photoshop the Sun out'' I looked and was sure he was holding the Fishing News. Partial overheard conversations never seem to add up :)
