Mr.Kind Postman delivered me a used/mint/boxed Canon EF 12mm MkII extender tube this morning, so had a quick play with it;

Shot with Samyang 35mm f/1.4 manual lens with natural daylight. This is my first time ever using an extender tube, they are pretty cheap to buy.

I like it!

And another;

What a find - nice purchase and nice shots

So do you still get AF, or is it all MF?

This [ 1st shot ] I like a lot .
On my canons - XTI and the 7 D , if you can use AF with lens , then AF will work when 12 mm extension is used . Depending on lens - You can loose up to 2 stops of light in darker shots and in bright sunlight you loose nothing - but that does not happen often .
The 12 mm extension is for EF lenses and the 12 mm extension II is for both EF and EFS . I think . I only have the EF 25 which works fine on my 70-200 - but I loose light , which does not matter to me since I generally shoot at F 5.6 or 8 anyway .
