Agricultural Sprinklers - El Centro CA

Nice one, Chris. That's a lot of water. When I first saw it, I was wondering if you'd added grain, or over-sharpened it - but i think the glistening sun is just really strong. Anyway, it's a fine image.

Thanks Rob - it's a whole lot of water - they lay miles and miles of pipes each season to irrigate the fields, then take them all out again when they harvest - quite an undertaking!

I've been after a shot of the sprinklers for a while - and this was the only field active as we drove by, so it go snapped. I want to find one where I look down on the sprinklers from a higher viewpoint, as they form wonderful geometric patterns - so that's on my to-do list.

That is a nice photo and a lot of water.
Thanks Paul - you see the 'Food Grows..' slogan on billboards around the area - as they are very aware that the irrigation is what makes their livelihoods possible.

If you live in Mexico, south of here, you probably hate the US for stealing almost all of the water out of the Colorado River!

When you look at the area from satellite using IR - you can see the well watered vegetation (Red areas) - and the boarder is as clear as day as there's almost no irrigation to the south!

Now that is super Chris. Very evocative and I love it. :)
Thanks Pete - will try some more as time/chance allows in the future - I thick the scene has a lot of photographic potential
