For our friends north of the border

We've seen films by Danny MacAskill before, but this one is just stunning.

Location, photography, and then the riding is off the charts

he's pretty much the best there is, and clearly a madman which I also love. I'm looking forward to going to Skye at the end of November

My brother-in-law has climbed that ridge, and says that with ropes and proper climbing gear, it was scary as hell - so on a MTB!

The guy is a certified nutter - but what amazing things he's done with that.

Assuming the flying shots were done using mini-copters - really amazing way to show the scale and perspective

I have a buddy who flies RC aircraft, who is dying to get into all that new 'drone' stuff - might have to have a play, with him doing the flying.

Could get some unique views of the landscape - and might lend itself to small, lighter weight mirror less cameras.

Great little film and a wonderful showcase for the scenery in Skye and the wonderful bikemanship:) of the rider. Since it formed a large part of the presentation I cannot prevent myself from mentioning the muzak. We have done the same in Ireland and promoted this hospital ward, diluted version of our tradition with enormous worldwide success I must admit, but which totally misrepresents what our true musical tradition is all about:mad:.

I understand RC Drones are banned from a lot of the US National Parks, there have been issues

i'd have chosen something more metal based i think

We've had local issue as well - people flying them over primary school playgrounds with cameras on - spying on people in high-rise apartments etc

So lots of early regulation - which I imagine will evolve over time

I saw a chap last year using one, over the local flower fields in Carlsbad - brilliant idea for a unique perspective

The local real estate companies use them to get shots of gazillion Dollar houses for their brochures.

And the local power company is going to use them for power line inspections, instead of helicopters - cheaper, lower noise and impact etc.

Also noticed Top Gear using them extensively, and to great effect

there is a bbc documentary about it on friday night, the making and filming etc

They are not very expensive either these days too, fr a basic one at least. Amazing how once brought to market the price dropped so quickly.

Amazing how these guys just become one with the bike, like it is an extension of themselves.

Like a camera in your hand Paul?;)
