Atop Calton Hill, with views over Princes Street and the Castle, it costs £5 to climb the stairs, something I've resisted doing for years due to both my innate skinflint-ness, and my fear of heights. So why I decided to pay the money on one of the windiest days of the year, I don't know. At the top of the monument to Nelson at Trafalgar, you emerge from the stairs to to face a small walled walkway around its perimeter, and on this day a Force 9 Gale, or so it seemed. Anyway, a grabbed a couple of quick ones, and made my way down the stairs.
I'd run out of medium format film, so this lot are from the Hexar, with Delta 400 film. having scanned similar shots today with 120 film, I can attest that there is a big difference, with the 120 winning out on quality, as we might expect.
More about Nelson's Monument HERE, should you be remotely interested.
And from inside the stairwell:
I only have one shot - one I don't like - showing the monument in between some Doric columns...
