Frozen in Time

This was originally just supposed to be an image of the shop but I just happened to catch the boy poised in mid-step (it was just luck as I was using a slowish Fuji P&S - I had a Mamiya 7II with me as my main camera). So now for me it is the boy who has become the main focus and his mum on her phone.

Thanks Paul. It grew on me over time. Again shot on the M603 and using a CP simulation plus also tone burn at the bottom. I like the blurred borders I was using at the time and must go back to them (canvas size increase using black, layer copy with strong gausian blur and then a layer mask to recover all bar the border).

Pete, I've been playing with borders again (surprise) mainly by pulling in gradients from the sides with a low exposure settings. Was it you who mentioned this once and did you say that you had an issue with the corners being darker than the rest of the border?

Nice Pete!
I think there might be a tighter crop here for me though?
Along the edge of the pavement, same right edge then frame around the shop front ... ...
Just a thought?

Revenge Eh!! :)

Actually I would probably have cropped the top a bit and maybe a touch on the left but I like the frame that the curb makes with the pavement. The problem was that the camera was / is pretty low resolution and so I couldn't lose too much of the image and still be able to print it at the same size as the others in the series without it showing (I did on one and it shows). Plus, to keep the aspect ratio and the space around the people limits what you can do somewhat.

Hi Paul, yes it was me. I could live with the darkening of the corners (and you can lift it a bit with local adjustment) but the effect of highlights at the edges can be difficult. In the end, taking it through PS was a much more elegant and controllable option I thought so I don't use the LR method much any more.
