Fuji 14mm

I got this lens yesterday. Unfortunately my Dad fell down and broke his hip that morning necessitating an emergency hip replacement surgery. So...I guess I'll actually get to really try it out tomorrow. I tried get him to let me take a picture of him but he got kind of cranky. I snapped this one when he was on the phone with my sister (plus he had been pressing that morphine button thingy for an hour....). It's ISO 2500 at F2.8. Stuck in traffic with the Film Noir 3 preset. Then my dogs wouldn't behave. Maybe I'll have more luck later. Seems to be a really great lens though. The trail photo is a find the dog puzzle. Oh yeah it focuses really close. Approximately 7 or 8 inches.

I love the one with the girder on the lorry, it almost seems like it is part of the building behind it. That's a great composition.

I wish your dad a speedy recovery.

don't tempt me, i'm trying to hold out for the 10-24mm zoom in june (i hope). hope your dad is feeling better soon.

I'm not knowledgable enough to be a lens reviewer. However, I can say without hesitation that this is very a good lens. I think I told someone it's expensive but it's not overpriced. I thought about waiting for the zoom also. I'm sure it will be a great lens also. I have been nothing but highly impressed with Fuji so far.

Thanks to everyone who asked about my Dad. My sister and I are very worried about him. It's doubly difficult because our Mother has dementia. She is at my sister's right now. I am going down later today to visit with her. She is very unsettled. We have our work cut out for us over the next couple of months.

Sorry to hear about your Pa Steve. Hope recovery is speedy.

Stuck in traffic is very cool. Found the dog on the trail; bowel movement time? ;)

The rest, as usual fine foties of deceived mutts. ;)

All the best for your dad's recovery Steve

that shot from the car in traffic is great

Agree on the 14mm - Sorry Beth, it's really really nice - really nice :D

Steve, Hopefully this will cheer you up a little. I was in Heffers (a well known bookshop in th UK) today and saw a book that caught my attention. As soon as I read the cover I thought of your photographs of the dogs. The book seems to be a photobook of images mostly taken from a dogs perspective. The book seems to be about owning Jack Russells but I guess it would appeal to any dog owner .

One of Stanley's (the black lab looking one) friends when we lived in Dallas was a Jack Russell named Kenzie. She was a great dog and a real character. Thanks for the heads up on this. I also found a book on the site I am very interested in callin In Defence of Dogs by John Bradshaw. Apparently it's not published here in the US but I was able to order it from Amazon UK.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shh...don't tell beth. ;) actually, my leisure money for the month is already spent. i've caught that stupid travel bug again.

But think how much nicer traveling would be knowing you had a 14mm to document your adventures.....[devil]

I saw the same book in Toronto last week, and was telling Steve about it - but couldn't remember the title. It is a work of love.

I love the colours in the 14 shots. Something about the shot of the beam/girder really gets me. It pulls my eye along. The shot of Stanley is my favourite. Great point of view.

The 14 looks more and more attractive to me.

Thanks again to everyone for the kind words about my father. We found out today he won't be able to drive for 6 weeks after he gets out of recovery. Here in Texas not being able to drive is a major problem.

Steve I also reflect the others and hope your dad mends well, bad enough getting hurt and mending when your'e young let alone older. Speedy recovery and hope the six weeks sorts it all.
Many more great photos telling a story of what you do each day, If photos can tell stories you are on to something.
All the best.
