I just got this for my birthday. This is the first shot I tried with it. It screws on the front of the regular lens. From Saturday AM.

Interesting, Steve. I was wondering whether to get one, but have hesitated, thinking it wasn't wide enough compared to the fixed lens. So, what do you think of it? That shot looks nice and long.

I'll try and shoot two comparison shots for you on our hike today. It's definitely wider. Really well built and I didn't notice any loss in quality. It's not cheap but it's cheaper than a lot of 28mm lenses. It seems as good as the Nikon one I paid more for so I would say it's not a bad deal. It feels pretty good on the camera.

Happy Birthday Steve! :)

He kept that quiet didn't he?! Where's the cake?!! ;)

Er...um.......er.......

Happy Birthday Steve! :)

Thanks Chris. Although at my age I'm not sure if it's a celebration or a wake..... ;)

Rob- Here is a completely unscientific test. I almost forgot. I shot this about 45 minutes ago on the way back to the car. Sorry about the portrait orientation for some reason I just naturally gravitate to it. I will try and do something later this week on a tripod so it will be exactly the same. I did aim at the same spot to focus. I didn't do anything to the file except convert it into a JPEG to post. No adjustments, no sharpening, nada.

Thanks, Steve. Just from even that unscientific test, as you say, I prefer the 28mm. I would like to see a couple of landscapes if you find the time. Cheers.

No problem. It will have to be next weekend. I have a tripod but I never really use it because I'm always with the dogs. I think I took a shot as we were heading back of some trees on the trail. I'll take a look tonight when I get home from work and post it. Off to take the dogs on the morning walk. I sure hope that skunk we keep seeing is somewhere else this AM. Stanley has been sprayed a number of times and we managed to avoid this little guy three times last week.

Hi Steve

I too would be grateful if you could provide some more shots and thanks for the comparison. It really does widen the perspective.

I am very interested in the 28mm and have seen one at a reasonable price (for the UK) on a certain Hong Kong based site which employs a cheeky chappie to review cameras.

The lens appears to integrate seamlessly on the camera which is a distinct advantage for me as my COS has eyes like an eagle. Although I have a very low pain threshold and am not as quick as I used to be at dodging well aimed kicks, I just might risk another covert purchase.

Pat- No problem. I work 8-6 Monday through Thursday so it's always dark when I get off. I'm off at on Friday and I will do a proper test with tripod so the frames match exactly. I haven't noticed any loss of sharpness with the lens. It's really well made (very solid) and just screws on the front. I thinks it's a really good deal.
