Fuji G617 Panoramic Camera with Velvia 50 - La Jolla, CA

Took this shot on Sunday evening. I headed out as the sky/cloud was looking interesting, and the tide was low at the same time. (Essential to avoid very wet feet!).

When I got to the pier, there must have been twenty or more photographers on the beach, so I had to jostle for position to get my shot.

Most people were just shocked that someone was using film! :D

This is a location I shot with my 5DII a few years ago, so it was nice to revisit with film and the panoramic camera.

Holy sugar!! I'm speechless Chris... That's superb!!

Here are two more conventional views from later into twilight

The colors just got better and better as darkness fell.

In the end I had to pack up as it was f-dark, and I needed to see to find my way off the beach!

I'd forgotten to take my headlamp, so would have been a little challenged in the pitch blackness.

That last image is fantastic, Chris. The angle & composition really takes advantage of the format.

gorgeous. love the light hitting the wood in the first.
Thanks Beth - the pillars on this one are concrete, it's a pier for oceanic research rather than being commercial - I wanted to get the shot early into twilight to capture that reflected light in the 'doorway', before it got too dark.

Man...that's just some wonderful photography Chris.
Thanks Glenn - much appreciated

Wonderful stuff again Chris and I remember the shot from the Canon. I really like the slight haze towards the end of the pier in the first shot and the contrasting sides.
Thanks Pete - the time of year really dictated the left/right contrast, as the sun is setting way south of the pier in Jan - Might come back later in the year for a more centered shot, or even try the sunset in the door shot again

I know what they asked you,..."Can you still buy film?"

Wonderful stuff again, Chris. Love 'em.
Thanks Brian - One guy asked 'Can't you get a digital version of that camera?' - I asked if he had a spare $40,000 lying around so that he could buy it - he moved quickly on! :D

Superb, Chris, really superb. Sell your Fujis. This is your camera from now on. Can it do portrait closeness?
Thanks Rob - closest focus is about 3.5M, so not much of a portrait camera!

An eye opener all these pics Chris. Loving the format and quality, The subjects you have chosen are made for this type of photography. The first one for me is special from a great set.
