GoMA - Glasgow

Not rag week. That seems to be a permanent head display. I can't remember a time it wasn't there. And, no, I didn't go in. By the time I got there I was knackered and just wanted to get on the train home. The girls were shopping - an activity I more than loath - and I was let loose with my cameras. I brought the X-E1 and the Zeiss Nettar, but never used the latter. I felt quite flat today, and uninspired. We left Edinburgh in glorious sunshine, and walked around Glasgow in the rain. Doh! [doh] I went up to the botanic gardens, and got a few frames in there, but overall I just didn't see anything today. Happens.

I did go into a second-hand book shop, and bought "Examples - The making of 40 Photographs" by Ansel Adams, which seems a good read. So it wasn't a wasted day.

Came home to a parcel the postie had left behind the bin (with the copper pipe and flowers) - the Olympus Trip. Brightened up my day :)

Yes. In fact I used to play there. I was a student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music when Glasgow became the European City Of Culture. Suddenly there was money around to pay musicians to play in museums and galleries. I played in the Burrell most weeks. But I also went there to enjoy the art work. Nice place, with some very interesting exhibits. Glad you know it.

I don't recall there being a musician there when I went so I guess I missed you! ;) I almost like the building as much as the exhibits and I think the whole thing works wonderfully. I love the way the glass walls connect you with the parkland and trees.

My main recollection of the Burrell Collection is having--against the rules--placed my hand on a 3,000 year old (or some such age) Egyptian stone carving of a face that was hanging on a wall tantalizingly close to me. I did it not to be a delinquent, but because I felt a strong urge to connect somehow with that ancient carver.

Bonnie fotie of the GoMA, Rob. Nice to see the Great Lord got a new hat! (Usually its your common or garden orange cone he wears.)

I like the angle, having a horizontal base, and the remaining non-vertical or horizontal with a monochrome feel and nicely spread lively colours. Beautiful, Rob. :)
