Graded Grains

I think they used to tell us that they made finer flour. Anyway... I needed different "stuff" to do during the day and a visit to this old mill was just the ticket. As I parked the car a pair of ducks walked over for attention and as I wandered around, I noticed other ducks sticking close to the visitors outside. Not obviously after food as they were happy to settle down and just be near people.

I digress. Caudwell's Mill is a unique, grade II listed roller flour mill with automatic machinery running through four floors. I could have done without all the stairs after the climbing of the day before, but at least it wasn't a guided tour and I could take my time. I can't tell you how much I loved these machines. They stood a little taller than me and each one had its own character. I think they graded the flour differently as they bore labels like "fine" and "extra fine". A very interesting place and well worth a visit :)
