Graded Grains

I think they used to tell us that they made finer flour. Anyway... I needed different "stuff" to do during the day and a visit to this old mill was just the ticket. As I parked the car a pair of ducks walked over for attention and as I wandered around, I noticed other ducks sticking close to the visitors outside. Not obviously after food as they were happy to settle down and just be near people.

I digress. Caudwell's Mill is a unique, grade II listed roller flour mill with automatic machinery running through four floors. I could have done without all the stairs after the climbing of the day before, but at least it wasn't a guided tour and I could take my time. I can't tell you how much I loved these machines. They stood a little taller than me and each one had its own character. I think they graded the flour differently as they bore labels like "fine" and "extra fine". A very interesting place and well worth a visit

Wonderful Lesley. I love the overall tone of the image: very atmospheric. And the mix of lighting really adds a bit extra. But not a small man in a bowler hat anywhere in sight (or did you just use a very slow shutter speed!?).

Ah... the lighting! Is it tungsten? I had a bit of fun correcting the colour cast. No men in bowler hats, but a very high ISO and a slow shutter speed

Looks like a mix of tungsten and daylight to me. I like the effect though.
