Yes, it was the hardest days work i have ever done!

Ha, yeah, thats the shot of the day that one :)... Really pleased with it and im not even sure what it is that i like so much!
Im pretty please with where i have got to with my PP for wedding shots now, i like to think its quite film like... also slightly lo-fi with the vignette and colour shift and low contrast, but still sharp

Really nice set Hamish - definitely delivering on all levels for the happy couple.

I like the set pieces, and the attention to detail, such as the reflection in the mirror on the bride-to-be shot.

The close-in reportage style shots with the ultra wide are great - lovely feeling of modern style - the viewer feels like they are attending the wedding as a guest - lovely DOF

The scene setter of the castle courtyard is brilliant - must have taken a few minutes to run up some stairs for that one!

And the peeping bridesmaid is super cute - I bet they all love that shot :)

One question - the vignette/polarizer effect on a few is looking a little harsh top left? (Not top right for some reason?)

Cheers for the comments Chris, I love using the wider end of my lens ... sod the distortion ... it might not be perfect, but I really dont care for perfect ;)
It is in fact all 24-70 lens, it just looks wider as it is fairly unconventional using a wide angle lens for this sort of thing... at a guess anyway

here is another, only 32mm, but looks wider i think

as wide as i go at 24mm

Something im learning more and more from this forum is that i need to be more confident with my style, forget the "whats right" and concentrate on the "whats me" ... people like it, i just don't always believe them - my confidence waxes and wanes so much when it comes to wedding photography its crazy! This time i have really gone with what I do well, and thats this, slightly imperfect, slightly "quirky" (so im told) but hopefully as you say give an impression of "attending the wedding" ... thats the most important thing for me as i feel it is likely to trigger memory to the day better ... I personnaly feel a vignette pulls the viewer into the photo in a way that adds to that feeling ... so that's why i do it! (even if it does look a little ott ... i think to the untrained eye, it will have the effect i want without looking to artificial ...(??))
It also suits the castle i think ... :)

The little girl is called Fraya ... would you believe, her parents are called Hamish and Hannah, and live in worcester ... Hamish used to drink in my local, i went down the one day, he was there with a gir ... oh we did have a chuckle when we introduced each other to each other ;)

Cheers Paul!

Yeah, I'm really not one for caring about lost highlights ... In the right context they add something not take something!
I'm really chuffed with these! I really need to re-hash my wedding website with some of these I think!
Saying that, I keep swearing I'm going to knock it on the head...

I can imagine that with the couple under so much pressure and completely stressed along with inconsiderate guests who think only about themselves it can be a recipe for a disaster at times.

I have family who complain at every wedding about the photos taking too long. I think to myself for ****s sake! The couple have spent money for someone to take photos of their special day and all they're trying to do is exactly what they are being paid to do.

I don't mind the stress on the day at all, it's good once you get into it!!
It's the crap I give my self after the day I don't like!
There's not much I can do for a while anyway, I've got bookings in 2013!
I shouldn't complain, it's all good really... :)

I don't like doing group shots, the guests don't like them, often even the couple don't.. Yet there is always a sence that they need to be done! I am yet to hear a single compliment of any group shot ...they are never the shots people like ... Madness really

I really like these Hamish, well done!!
The only thing "I" would slightly vary is the vignette. A little bit too much of it for "my" taste :)
This is, of course, IMHO :)
I'm sure the couple will be very pleased!

Cheers Asun
It is more than I usually vignette, in fact I pretty much stopped applying one at all for a while, certainly not an obvious one... It just seemed right this time!
I've had lots of positive feedback so far :)

Yup, that's just my opinion, of course :)
Can I ask you how do you do your vignette? I think your method might be different to mine.

Ah, I use the "post crop vignette" tool in lightroom, in combo a split tone(slightly sepia on the highlights) it gives this effect
