Heavy Burden.

Indeed it is Ivar. India left such an impression on me I can still smell Bombay to this day if I think back to that time or see pictures such as this. Such a fantastic place for colourful interesting photography.

Thank you Julian. I quite agree and that country kind of drags me back and I'm booked for another visit this coming late september if my wife shall be well enough by then. ( Booked a trip before some damned sickness ocurred I'm afraid ). Hope you are doing good. Take care.

I'd love pay a visit. I was sixteen when I arrived, the ship was in dry dock for three weeks, we had blown a hole in the bottom of the ship doing seismographs readings using explosive charges. Over did it a little :D. fortunately even though being hundreds of miles from anywhere, with a patched up job the bilge pumps just manage the incoming water which allowed us to reach Bombay.
In hotel for three weeks in the old part of Bombay was great, yet life changing, to see such poverty and the struggles many had and have. That on top of recently being in Djibouti and Somalia , yes a lasting impression, especially when we'd then stop of in the Seychelles for a week or so. I know it would not be the same now but have always wished to go back at least to one of those places to visit. Sadly I cannot get insurance for travel any longer .
The best for your wife and hope it all works out ok.

Thank you Julian. It is not changed much in certain areas I believe. Out of 1,02 billion people approximately 775 million are in poverty. One gets very humble being in a country as India. There were lots of tears, lump in our throats, but a lot of laughter too. One may wonder what make us go back. It is hard to explain, but they smiles when there should be no reason to, they share the little they have and they are friendly and caring. I guess that's some of the reasons plus India still is very colourful. We travel mostly on foot, rucksacks on our backs and means of travel are buses and trains most of the time. We spend about 6 to 7 hours walking each day, including some breaks of course. I wish I had the opportunity to listen to your stories Julian, I would just love to learn more. Thanks again and take care.

Sounds wonderful Ivar. At that age, a lot I took for granted as can happen. A lot of what happened in port to be frank was beer and women and the rest.
