Hello, New Friend

Lovely looking machine Rob - I like the shots and PP as well - very stylish look

We'll expect to see you on the Tour next year then! :D

Not likely! :) No, I just want to get a little fitter, but also take it on short train journeys followed by bike rides out into the country for some photo shoots. That's the plan, anyway. we shall see.

Hi Rob

Hope you enjoy, looks a good machine will we see you in the tour de France next year. I miss my bike riding days.

I refer the honourable gentleman to an answer I made previously ;-)

Oh, Pete, why did you have to remind me of Dan's accident? Well, I'm a very careful rider...can't control others, though...

Good looking rig, Rob! And bonnie foties. By the way, I went to my local bike shop last weekend--after you posted the first image of the new rig--and discovered they actually DO sell that same brand here in USA. Must be a new import within the last year or so because when I was riding a lot--and until about 2 years ago I did ride a LOT--that brand was non-existent here. (I'm tempted--they had a single-speed with a "flip-flop" hub so you could ride it as a fixie if you wanted for reasonable dollars. My wife would explode, though, if I brought home another bike.)

For its price it seems an amazing bike. I have a friend who does triathlons once a month, and he checked out the bike. Said he was really impressed.

Why would anyone want a single-speed bike? Not good for hills, surely, in either direction? Is it flat where you live? Talking of which, we had a good laugh when planning a holiday to Belgium, when the brochure boasted "you will love our flat landscape!" - and we did :-)

Yeah it's quite flat where I am, Rob. I found on my daily rides that of the 27 speeds available to me I often used a grand total of 1 on a 15 or 20 mile ride. However, that is morning riding. If I ride in the afternoon there is always a stiff headwind riding north along the coast. That would often make a lower gear very nice to have.

Sounds like you were a serious rider...
Not that serious, Rob. I used to put in 13-17 miles in the morning before work, and then do a longer ride on the weekends. Did a few century rides, too. Rode at that level for about 10 years up until about 2 years ago. Got burned out for some reason. Feeling like getting back on the bike again lately, but I don't think I would go back to the every morning routine. (Too much RPF correspondence to do in the AM before work now. :o)

Well, that sounds a lot more serious than most of us. Good for your health, though, some maybe worth your while doing a little. I only do about two miles a day, just to get the cardiovascular thing pumping. That's enough for me. But with a better bike, I hope to reach areas I never got to before with camera in hand. But will this rain EVER stop?! Pouring down!

That is a very nice bike rob, and of course, great shots!
Although I must say, a bike with gears is cheating!!! Lol.
I must admitt, I have been looking at a 1920's bike, I should get a picture of it to show all. :)

It helps to maintain a cycling routine if rain is a less than daily visitor. Here is Southern California we can almost always expect no rain.
