Kidding of course. Being my first post, I thought I would try some humour...although at that I rarely succeed. My name is Chris Armstrong and I live in Alberta, Canada. I've been taking pictures as a hobby for just over 20 years. I was somewhat limited financially in the beginning so I didn't start taking lots of pictures until about 2003. That's when I bought my first digicam (Olympus c5060) and have enjoyed the hobby tremendously since then. I continue to shoot digital, although I still have my first 35 mm and run a roll of film through it now and again.

Photography for me is both an art-form and a way of preserving a moment in time for the sake of sharing with others, or preserving my own memories.

At some point when I have more time on my hands, I would like to delve more into the minutia of the technical side of the hobby, but for now, I just keep snapping shots.

Great shot of the bee! It certainly looks as though you have explored some of the technical minutia of our hobby!

So what's the film camera you still run the odd film through?

What did you take the bee shot with?

Thanks for the warm welcomes, Kev, Dan and Hamish. I don't have any photo-friends so it will be nice to browse and converse here.

Hamish the bee was shot with a simple Olympus c5060. I am still amazed at the quality of the shots I got with that camera, especially with macro pics. It's unfortunate that it stopped functioning some time ago.

I now shoot the vast majority of my photos with an Olympus e500 / Zuiko ED 14-45mm. I also have a Zuiko ED 40-150mm and a quite nice Zuiko ED 50mm Macro.

The film camera I use once every blue moon is a Pentax K1000 that I've had since I was 18! It's survived some major abuse. What a tank.

And Chris, yes I was up a smoke stack. I've worked in construction for 20 years and travelled a fair bit for work, and I love taking industrial type pics. Macro, landscape, and work/industrial are my favoured subjects.
