Never frequented this forum before. But today out and about I thought I aught to try and take a few pic's for something to process this evening. Not really knowing what I am doing with street photography though. I did pick up a Konica BIG MINI MB 300 in a charity shop purely on the looks and feel of the camera. Like a new bar of soap and felt very well made and thought the perfect camera at least a good street camera. So need some batteries and will put the Kodak BW 400CN through it.

Until then .
All Sigma DP3 Merrill iso 400.

I'll post a few hope it is not to many.

The Konica big mini has the capacity to take very good photos, but that shutter button/focusing system is frustrating in its unresponsiveness. Good luck with it though, I am sure you will get some nice shots from it, I did with mine! :)

Thanks Hamish. Nice to know. I liked the compactness and the sturdy build . I had in mind using it on the quay when the fishermen are landing their fish.

Loving the last shot, with the eye contact and the arrow coming out of the guys head :D

Nice one Chris I had not seen the arrow yet it is so so obvious now. Just shows what my attention is drawn to when processing. I chose this of a few of him as he was putting the thumb up. Arrow or no Arrow.
Of course if the arrow is good , it was all deliberate.:D

I would say it should be fine for that, where it missed for me was always in slightly less easy to focus situations.

Here, I reviewed it ... Possibly unfairly in hindsight, the Yashica it was up against is probably the best compact p&s made

Thanks Hamish and interesting comparison. So it is not complete junk which is nice. At £2.50 I am not to unhappy. Mine it possible a newer model and it is the BM300. I wonder if they did anything different about the focusing abilities.
Probably not I doubt they invested much when upgrading , but who knows? I'll try and get a battery today. To windy for fisherman shots as it is blowing a gale and they wont be at sea.

Aye the last shot is the clear pick of the pix! The others are ok but there's not much of a story there, which for me is key to this genre. The last of them has a little more to it - she's watching him as he's going in.

Thanks Dave I look far to much for the aesthetics of an image. Maybe my Fine art training.

A nice set Julian, but I disagree with Dave here as I think the second one would be my pick. It kind of says to me; I am so bored while waiting for my wife, so I would rather stay here and look at folks in the street.

Thank you. well I guess that anyone who has made the effort to get out and go shopping is up to something, even if not at first strongly obvious.

Nice set Julian. The first and last are my favourites though, especially the placement of the arrow!
Thanks Pete. I like the first. The focus is
off as it was in manual focus and I did not realise yet turned out ok. Shot B+W iso400 DP3. I like the accident of the guy who walked in front, yet it works for me. like the triangle the figures make.
It did cross my mind when Brian had asked if these cameras would be ok for the street and out and about. I was uncertain but now believe they are just fine.

The last image I waited for the decisive moment to capture the arrow

A side note. Got the DP2 on the way :D
