Hola from Mexico City

Hi All,

finally arrived at this friendly looking forum after enduring a couple of years of trolls from that Double P***** site.

Just moved to Mexico City. Before that a couple of years in Cuba , although my real home is Oxford, UK, where I sold my DSLR gear and got myself an X100. Honestly I missed so many shots fiddling around with a bag full of lenses that I thought I should go back to basics. Sometimes I miss a long zoom, but I love my Fuji and hope to get some good shots here in wild and wacky Mexico. It looks as if posting shots here is pretty straightforward....just use the "insert image" button ?

Hope to get to know you all soon.

Bob

Yeah insert image and follow the instructions ... It you use the URL option make sure to untick the "reference image locally" box ...

anyway, welcome to the forum Bob!
sounds like you are in just the sort of part of the world to supply us with some eye candy! :)
what took you to Mexico then?

Well I am a Physics teacher (sorry about that but somebody has to do it) and there was a job going here and it seemed a natural thing to do after Cuba, so here I am.

Lets have a go at this posting picciesDSCF0622small.jpgNew_1_DSCF0684small.jpgNew_1_DSCF0698small.jpg thing. If it works you should see a pano from my apartment window....it's a nice view and on a clear day I can see the volcano erupting...but not this shot! Also some great lightning storms here...I reckon I could get into photographing lightning !

hola, one of two spanish phrases i know, the other being dos equis... welcome to the community, we won't hold the physics thing against you. j/k, i actually enjoyed physics in high school and college. great photos, esp. the third.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I just posted a snap of some Cuban police in the portraits section that has made me wonder if I did the right thing in getting rid of the Nikon kit for the x100.............mmmmm

Welcome to RPF Robert (Bob, Rob or Robert; which do you prefer?). It looks like you will like this place and that's a cracking set of shots to start (someone had to say it! :) ). Looking forward to seeing more and talking photography (and rubbish) with you - we'll leave the discussions on physics to you and Jim).

Hi Bob, you clearly have great taste - Location, camera, and forum! :D

Welcome on board - looking forward to seeing your neck of the woods

Welcome Bob,

So originally from Oxford. Me too! We do travel some distances. I like the lightning shots, great stuff. Welcome.

Nothing wrong with Oxford except....weather, cost of accommodation, cost of food, cost of transport, cost of everything, congestion, tourists etc............but some nice architecture ! :)

Especially the tourists................

Some hidden archiectural gems for sure. It will improve when they finish the work around the old infirmary and you get to see some the buildings that were hidden in there.

As for the cost and weather...........hard to argue that point.
