I went hiking without a 'proper camera' yesterday...

Didn't want to lug a bag full of gear around, as I wasn't sure how far we were going to hike in the mountains above Sedona AZ.

So I had to make do with the iPhone as my only camera ;)

Big Sky

#1: Is that rock naturally sheared off like that, or was that an abandoned quarry?
#2: I love the limbs in that tree pointing to the peak.
#3: My first thought was that the pool was actually the sky, as if looking through a hole in the rock.
#4: What is the small black object just left of center where the foreground rock forms a V?
#5: Could be an add for Jeep.
#6: Gives "Big Sky Country" a run for the money.

Great set, Chris. (Bit surprised you didn't haul your Canonet up there with you, though.)

I know, I know - should have taken the Canonet :(

Might go back today and give it a blast - of course the sky is clear now with no high ice clouds :( :(

Brian:

1: Yes, totally natural - the rock is well jointed in huge cubes, and this is a sink hole that has collapsed

2) Me too - will revisit with the 5D2 and Canonet I think

3) :)

4) Back of a tourist, who managed to get in almost every picture we took of the pools!

5) :)

6) Agree - when we get storms coming in (as we did yesterday from California) it can be really dramatic scenery

I think I've said before that the best camera is the one you have with you. Man, that iPhone looks like it takes good photos. Of course the photog has a lot to do with the results. The photos look nice and clear and your treatment provides great contrast. My favorite are Gnarly Tree and Eye to the Sky. Looks like a great place for landscape shots.

brilliant photos again Chris and another glowing reference for both the iPhone and yourself

Wow, excellent photos, the sharpness is unbelievable!

I am very surprised by how much details there are in these pictures.

What an amazing set of images from an IPHONE........i just cant believe it, there all awesome, the Jeep shot is defo my favourite and something you might see in a car brochure.

This is just proof that you dont need your camera Chris, i will post you my address shortly :-)
