Actually this is a Citron, Citrus medica similar to a lemon but much bigger.

This was taken in the glasshouse at the Bristol Univeristy Botanic Gardens last week.
I think I shall be going back there on a regular basis throughout the year to practice my plant photography....

Loving the yellow to green grad on the fruit - and the texture

Never seen one of these - assume it tastes lemon-like?

The yellow green colouring is due to the ripening process, its completely yellow when fully ripe.

Aparently (I have never tasted one fresh), there isn't much juice inside. Instead, the thick inner pith is what is used for flavouring, and is used in candied peel, etc.
