I'm thinking of doing something drastic...

... Perhaps inspired by Daren ... Perhaps through desire to have less junk ... perhaps the desire for more 28mm lenses I cant afford ... I'm thinking of getting serious with the camera collection cull

The epson rd1, voigtlander 15mm, zeiss nettar, lubitel 166 a couple of the voigtlanders are all on the verge of getting the chop ...

All stuff I love, all stuff I dont use!

Id like to buy a voigtlander 28mm 2.8 slii for my nikon and a carl zeiss biogon 28mm 2.8 for the m mount gear ...

Brave? or mental? HELP!

People buy classic cars or high performance track cars which sit in the garage for ages but then once every now and then they are taken out and used. I would keep whatever cameras you have, there is a reason why you own them, either for the look of them, the functions or the film format.

Cameras are also smaller than cars, so I have all of mine on a single shelf, one day I will go out and use the Argus C2, one day I will go out and use the Zenit Photosniper, just not today but I have the choice. Once you sell them then you will one day think: I have a sudden need to go shoot some 120, now where did I put that simple to use TLR....

I think the only reason you should sell off cameras is if you have a duplicate, all of the cameras I currently have will probably outlast me lol so I'm not planning to sell any of mine (apart from that Zorki 4K which was a duplicate).

Hamish,
I can only relate to what has happened to me. When my wife got a new job in Boston we decided to downsize. We took it to an extreme and sold the big house and cleaned out years of stored and forgotten "stuff". The one major change for me was my wood shop. I've been woodworking for all my life so it was full of tools and equipment that I was going to use someday. I decided to just focus on photography...but did store some of the equipment and tools just in case. I haven't been to the storage locker in a year...and am about to get rid of the it all. The bottom line...for me...there is a relief in not thinking about doing something with something you haven't actually touched in a while. I have enough to keep me busy even though I have retired. I never have enough time to use...play with...what I have...even though I have 1/3 of what I had.

Thanks Glenn ... I think that's where I'm at!
there are a few cameras I'll keep for sentiment ... Others ... I just don't need ...
And when I say need, I mean that mentally ... It does feel like a weight on my mind having some of the crap I have!

David, by any chance did you used to collect football stickers? Pogs? Pokemon? ;)

I collect things that are either:

Shiny
Mechanical
Unusual
Make noise
Create flames

or all of the above :D

Some football stickers were shinney .. I seem to remember they were called "shinneys"
Pogs too I think ... Not sure about Pokemon, but I'm guessing they were too...
Pogs also made noise when you hit them together ... And they were most certainly "unusual"

on that merit I'm going to assume my guess is correct ... At very least about pogs ;)

Maybe :D hehe, that's a blast from the past lol you know, back when music was actually music and we still had an economy lol

Pokemon were irritating, but granted noisy and certainly an 'unusual' invention.

Create flames? Wow, well Pokemon really did go far. Or at another guess, novelty lighters?.......
You can never have enough 'flame' in your life.

Hamish, I think we're getting closer :D

I think its more the fact that I am bolting a Suzuki SV650 bike engine onto a kart to go drag racing at Santapod (sold all of my turbos and race engine as I decided to build a more compact drag kart and have a hobby that means I can buy many things but still only need 1 shelf lol) :D
