Thank you, @Beth Anthony. I also liked the light when I took the photo (the geometry, the complementary colours in the yin and yang of the left and right sides of the frame, the black sun that is actually the shadow of a road sign). I'm glad you liked it.

A wonderful composition, Gianluca. The black sun is a great detail, especially positioned below that dark streak and is mirrored nice by that metal object in the window. I also really like the way the lighting has highlighted the branches of the tree again thr dark background.

The contrast in brightness really pushed me to take this shot, as well as the implied geometry. I tried to find a composition that worked for me, and I exposed for the highlights, letting the shadows fall away into darkness. In post I brought back a touch of detail in the shadows but I’m not entirely sure it was the right call. You also have to understand that behind those lights - and especially behind those shadows - there’s a story of suffering: a former prison that was in use for centuries. Hence, 'Into the Dark', hence 'The Black Sun'.

Ah, hence the bars. I think the contrast works well, Gianluca. You really need to look into the shadows to understand what you are seeing and, given the context you have now added, that makes what is a strong image even more meaningful I think.
