Had the little Sigma a few days now, and whilst likeing the file quality, thats about it. The enigma of the Sigma:)
The files this little camera produces is quite remarkable, and has that unique foveon look. I personally found the files a tad soft.

I already knew the limitations of the camera, the menu system will drive you potty, the raw software is so dire, constantly crashing on my Mac, and is about as user friendly as a brick. Fortunately Lightroom can process Dp1 raw files.

As a usuable tool, in the right conditions it can produce quality images, but operating the camera requires a certain amount of dexterity. I was interested in the files the Foveon sensor produces, I would imagine the Merrils are awesome, but the camera itself as a photographic tool, is just so so.

Roger to all of that Nick.

Got my DP2 yesterday and am struggling with the software a bit which I put down to early dementia and Fuji-itise. I opened JPEGs in Aperture and they do look rather nice with an astonishing level of detail and once I fathomed SPP a little more, I opened a few RAW images and realised just why I had to get into the Merrill. Wow!

I think I will rename it Marmite as I fear a distinct love/hate relationship developing.

I may be tempted to get a Franiec grip as it is a smooth and slippery little devil.

Nice shots, Nick. So, I presume you are shooting with a non-Merrill DP1?
Hi yes Brian the original DP1 which for the smaller file size, gives remarkable quality, its just the box its housed in that causes the dislike. The other negatives are no bulb mode, lack of cable release.
So for me it will be an oocasional use camera, when I need something to fit in the pocket.
