Keys View - Joshua Tree National Park

This is the view looking South East from a lookout position in Joshua Tree - hazy with smog that's blown in from LA, but still an amazing sight.

Oh aye, Mr. San Diego. Blame it on the Los Angelinos! :p

I think the smog ads much to the atmosphere in this fotie, Chris. Nice capture! :p

Thanks guys.

Portrait panoramas are where you mount the camera vertically, but then pan left-right to build a panorama from multiple frames in portrait orientation. Works a treat!

The foreground desert is covered with scrub, giving it that nice texture, a bit like desert stubble!

It was bloody cold and windy up on the lookout - we were all rushing back to the car after 10 minutes to warm up :)

Thanks Pete - maybe one day I'll get to it at sun-up or sunset, although park hours and the distance from civilization make it a little challenging.

Chris, this location has a lot of potential. What's it like at sunrise?

Looking at the plot, looks like sunrise would be over my left shoulder looking out on this view - so promising

Park only opens at 8am though, so not sure if I could get in to get the shot :(

Although I shot sunrise in another area of the park another time, so I goes I must have been able to drive in somehow....
