A room with a view.

This photo was taken from inside one of the deserted houses, looking out over the hot and dry desert.

I would love to take this same photo on a moonlit night, just the time to catch a few ghosts!

Thanks for looking!

I'd love to shoot somewhere like this! We just have a shortage of deserts in England!
There are some lovely deserted ex tin mines in Cornwall with some lovely derelict and protected stone buildings I want to go take photos of one day ... Unfortunatly I lack the private plane to go visit them with ease! ... ;)

Deserted mines have lots of potential Hamish. I have spent quite a bit of time on some of our local gold mine dumps and also have quite a few photos "from above" of the huge opencast iron and coal mines we have here in South Africa.

The private plane helps :) some of the distances are huge, but I am discovering potential right in my area everyday. Something I want to try is street photography, I must just get used to it, I always feel like I am intruding.....

I'm thinking this would be a fantastic shot with stars in the sky and maybe a little moonlight to light up the desert. Still a very nice photograph just as it is.

These shots are fascinating, Rudi. Thanks for posting. I recently saw a documentary about this town on the Discovery channel here in the States. It looks like quite the place. It's great you have such a personal connection.
