I've not fallen off the edge of the Earth, it's just been a dull autumn, grey winter and late spring here for us. And that means virtually no subject matter. But last week my wife and I took a few days to just relax in the Texas Hill Country around Mason, Texas (about 100 miles west of Austin). I've driven through Mason many times and spent the night there more than once, but never actually went specifically there to stay.
En route I've noticed a beautiful church at the little crossroads community of Art, Texas, just a few miles east of Mason. There are many, many photos of this church online, particularly when the bluebonnets are in bloom. One that stands out in my memory is the church illuminated by direct eastern sunlight but with a huge towering Texas thunderstorm filling the sky behind it. Well, when we went, naturally it was severely clear -- Not a cloud in the sky. It was beautiful weather to be out and about, but not exactly photogenic. I tried to do what I could with the warm pre-sunset light one evening.
A sunrise would probably be better but the weather (combined with the fact this wasn't a dedicated photo trip) convinced me to leave it at this.
