Critique Welcomed Leaves...leaves...and More Leaves

Laurie had some Deanly duty at a Connecticut University about 3 hours south of Boston today and tomorrow...so I tagged along. Early this morning I braved the first real frost and headed out to a local park where there are still some colorful leaves on the trees...but mostly on the ground.

This was what I saw as I stepped around the corner after parking. The morning mist caught my eye...

Then came the yellow...

And of course there were plenty of colors in the pond...

And of course a @Pete Askew inspiration as a sliver of sun back lite this one hanging on for dear life...

It was one of those fleeting moments. That was one I thought I may have caught close to right.
You are welcome anytime...just head west. ;)

Fantastic set Glenn. That first one was most certainly worth getting up for. And the single leaf is lit just perfectly. And the other two are bloody good as well. :)
Thanks Pete...This was one of those days I was so happy that I couldn't stop shooting. If I was shooting film...I'd be broke.
We sent the clocks back here last weekend. My inner clock hasn't adjusted...I had to wait for park to open.

The first shot is really excellent - i know from personal experience how elusive it can be to capture in an image the wonder of things (like the mist and interaction with light) we perceive in person. I have one comment, which I fully admit is personal preference. I would try to work with the color balance of the sky to reduce/eliminate the slight turquoise/teal hue I see there. The color palette of the shot reminds me of the recent trend in motion picture color grading towards what is referred to as "teal and orange", which I am not a fan of. But as I said, great image.

I also like the last leaf portrait a lot. As an alternate presentation, you might consider trying out some of the Orton effect on that shot.

Thanks Keith. Appreciate the comments. I'm not sure I see the teal...but I processed this on my laptop as I'm on the road. I'll check it when I get home. Thanks again.

Bear in mind it happens to be a trigger for me, so I am probably hyper sensitive. And there must be a lot of folks that like the orange & teal "look" in films, because the industry seems intent on producing the look on everything lately. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it - I can be rather OCD when it comes to color at times.

Consider the source ...

Aren't all arty types a bit OCD anyway? I know I am! The first image has been hauting me all day because I could only see the tiny square on the home page from work. It's even better in full :)

You should have seen me trying to pick the exact shade of pale yellow when we were painting the great room earlier this year. It was horrible (just ask my wife) and I have several gallons of paint that didn't make the cut.

Holy cr@p - that first shot is just stunning Glenn! :)
