Legal Graffiti

Took a trip down to North Park, San Diego, again this week - on a mission to find Graffiti nirvana.

Son #2 - who's been known to lift a paint can or two, gave me the inside scoop on where to go - in this case, an old thrift store, just off the beaten track.

They allow artists to paint the exterior walls, all around the building - amazing!

This is a scouting trip for a future photoshoot - looking forward to coming back soon.

Blimey, that's all a bit good isn't it?! Love the detail eye shot especially. Should make a god location for a shoot. Will you work with the details or use it as contrast?
I think a bit of both Pete - in scouting the location it's enabled me to sit down with the model and discuss looks, specific shots, angles etc, to make best use of the available backdrops.

We're building out a shot list based on this, which we'll use on the day to direct the shoot, and keep everything on track.

For example - the eye detail has a brilliant gold backdrop with that lovely wall texture, so I'm planning to shoot the model as part of a comp with the eye, using ring-flash to really get the specular reflection.

The guy with the gun - I'm planning to shoot from high on the left, from a set of steps, looking down the barrel, with the model facing the wall, hands-up on the wall as if she's being held-up.

Lots of ideas - we'll see how they work out in practice - but the shoot list has 60+ shots on it at this time - more than enough for a 2-3 hour shoot!

The guy with the gun in the second looks exactly like one of my students...scary! Great stuff, Chris.
Rob - if he's your student, RUN AWAY! :D

All superb. Love the last one where she appears raise from the earth.
Thanks Tom - can't wait to have a play with that one

Planning to do a shot where the model mimics the face on the wall, and also one where the face on the wall appears to be reacting to the models pose - should be fun as the faces are on the street-side of the building, so we'll be shooting in full view of joe public!

For some reason, the guy with the pistol reminds me of John Goodman

I knew it! - love the movie

Mystery soved - nice detective work gentlemen!
