Leica Buys Sinar

Probably not all. They were already expensive and specialised. It may give both parties a common platform to develop digital devices / sensors though. The S-System is highly respected but ties you in somewhat more that some MF back-based cameras. I went down the PhaseOne route on both Hasselblad V and H as I could then use the backs on my LF systems. Due to the smaller size of the sensors than the LF native formats (4x5 cm vs 4x5") you can use some MF lens with the backs and retain some movements so maybe Leica see an extension of the market for S lenses. Look, for example, what Linhof and Silvestri have been up to. http://www.linhofstudio.com
