lens question

Davie just been looking at your Scotland by Lay By.

1. "Auchmithie nr Arbroath" "product of 13 separate photographs edited to make one superwide view."
Yep 8-16 or 10-22

2. How many of your images are hand held i wonder
Sigma 8-16 : f5.6 HSM handheld in early morning, dusk, Scottish weather ?
(although Beth's images seem to suggest f5.6 may be ok)
Canon 10-22 : f3.5 USM wouldn't that be easier handheld.

3. Corner to corner sharpness : i dont think needed for sweeping landscapes
(forego 14mm prime)
ultrawide zoom more handy for your images.
Distortion easily correctable in sw.

(& finally if you have £1.8k to burn either of the uw zooms & sigma dp2m [stalkeyes])

i'm fairly sure the auchmithie pano was done with a 14-42 olympus kit lens and all handheld, in fact most of my stuff is done handheld and all the panos definitely are :)

the sigma dp2m looks awful to me , just don't like the look at all. Lens wise i think i'm back to either of the 2 sigmas ... the 8-16 still ahead though

Hi Davie, very interested to see what you end up posting.

Just to throw something else in how about the Samyang 14mm Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical - Full Format Review / Test Report - It's manual control but apparently stunning resolution which suggests optically well designed. It is also reasonably priced so you can spend the rest of your hard earned wonger on other glass such as pints and shots.
