Lightroom Question

I'm still working with LR, but after I get moved next week plan on "escalating" my incompetence to include Photoshop. I use an Apple computer and of course got talked in to Aperture when I bought it. I never really liked the program but I have noticed a distinct difference with files from my Nikon camera when imported in the two programs. The "bright" ones are from Lightroom and the "darker" ones are from Aperture. They are both straight from the camera no adjustments. I've almost stopped using the Nikon because Lightroom requires so much exposure adjustment (I don't actually have this problem with the Fuji). At one point I really thought that something was wrong with the camera until I just happened to try out Aperture on a lark. Is this some preset Lightroom has for Nikon cameras? It's really driving me crazy.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds like changes are being made at import with LR but either not, or differently, in Aperture. I no longer have a D700 so can't check but the D3 imports without changes. However, there are several reports of problem similar to yours. The best suggestion seems to come from an Adobe forum (Adobe Community: Nikon D700 Over exposure issue). Ignore all the drivel later on and check that your LR settings are as shown in the first answer (CORRECT). That would be a good starting point at least.

Pete- THANK YOU!! It's the Camera Calibration under Develop. There is a huge difference between Adobe Standard and Camera Standard. Actually Camera Neutral is better than Adobe Standard.
